Mom celebrates son's graduation with pearls

Students in Kinda Helms' transition classroom at the Neil Armstrong Program at Hawthorne School had a rare educational treat brought to them by one of the student's Moms, Tracy Stine. She wanted to do something special to celebrate her son Shayne's upcoming graduation from the Neil Armstrong Program. Chili supper set for November 21 at MMS

Mattoon Middle School students in Michelle Wilson’s enrichment class have visited students attending the Franklin DDC program on Wednesdays and Thursdays for the past three weeks. The MMS students have read stories and helped them make crafts. MHS students, staff, recognize veterans at annual event

Veterans were recognized Nov. 10, 2017 at Mattoon High School as part of the school’s annual Veterans Day celebration. MHS JROTC instructor Major Douglas Peterson, U.S. Army, retired, was the featured speaker. Ed Dowling, Mattoon High School alumnus and veteran, described and named several of his heroes. All Mattoon Middle School and Mattoon High School choir alumni are cordially invited to sing with our choirs on our winter concerts. The MMS concert will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 18 in the Wildcat Gym.
