Student representatives from Mattoon Middle School’s Reading Committee presented the Read Across Mattoon selected title to school board members Dec. 12, 2017. This year’s title is “I Will Always Write Back.” The committee’s adviser is Ingrid Minger, pictured far right. "Imagine you live in Zimbabwe. Your family is poor, and you’re in desperate need of help to support your family.  You have no idea what you’re going to do!  But then, you receive a letter.  This letter will change your life forever. Now, imagine you're in class.  Your teacher says you must send a pen-pal letter to someone across the globe.  You choose a country called Zimbabwe.  Little do you know that the pen-pal letter you send to Zimbabwe will forever change your life.  Read I Will Always Write Back to find out if Caitlin can save Martin, the boy from Zimbabwe."

Meet Martin Ganda in person at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 16 in the Lone Elm Room at the Mattoon Train Depot.The community is welcomed to attend this event.

 

The Mattoon Middle School Reading Committee is comprised of about 50 students who volunteer their time to read books from the annual Rebecca Caudill list. The committee's goal is to promote literacy and the joy of reading throughout the school district and community. The committee's adviser is Ingrid Minger.
